The Four C's - The characteristics that determine the quality of a diamond. CUT - The fire and lustre of a diamond is only revealed by skilled cutting of the raw material, through the arrangement and proportion of its facets.
COLOUR - Diamond colour is graded from D Colourless to Z Fancy Colour.
CLARITY -Every diamond is unique, each bearing natures fingerprints;
other minerals, dry cracks with liquid or gaseous inclusions. The
less visible inclusions the more rare the stone.
(FL Flawless, IF Internally Flawless, VVS1 very very slight inclusions, VS very slight inclusions, SI slight inclusions) CARAT WEIGHT -Diamonds are sized by Carat Weight. 1 Carat = 100 points. A diamond is priced on a per carat basis according to weight and size. Rarity increases with size and a 1 Carat diamond will cost more than twice the price of a 1/2 Carat diamond.
